you can either pull the engine and polish all of that or pull all of the rubber off mask the holes/lines. ospho the rust and paint it black.
either way it will look killer for a little bit of sweat.

I want to pull off the carbs this winter, clean them up, maybe send them out to be rebuilt (not sure I can do it!). Some of the screws on the carb are marginal, but I have not investigated thoroughly. There may be some hopeless ones (such as those on my front m/c).
I like the black idea. The case covers are never going to be shiny again, I fear. I hit them with some mother's yesterday, and they look better, but far from pretty.
