I saw a ad for a 1982 KZ1100
Sunday afternoon and sent a e-mail to the guy. Monday morning (yesterday)I got a e-
mail with phone # and directions to the bike. I dropped everything
and made a nice 60 mile bike ride to where the 1100 was, looked it
over and BOUGHT IT. The bike has less than 22K and looks like it has
spent most if not all of it's non driving time in a garage. It has
been sitting for the last 10 years and the guy said he put a battery
in it but it wouldn't turn over. Hmmm, Motor locked up maybe? Well
when I got there I pulled in the clutch and tried to push the
bike....clutches were stuck. I rocked it a few times and they popped
loose. Maybe the clutches stuck not letting the starter turn? Well I
won't know anything for sure until I get it towed home this weekend
BUT I did put it on the center stand and was able to get the motor
to turn(not easily) by turning the back wheel so I'm betting it
won't be too serious to get it running.I'll pull the plugs, squirt a
little oil in the cyl.s and clean the carbs and see if she will turn
over. If so, I'll put new plugs and fuel in (Tank is CLEAN/NO rust)
and see if she will start. If not then I'll track down why the
starter wont work. I used to drool over the 82 KZ1100's when they
first came out in late 81 and had planned to trade in my 1980 KZ1000
on one but I was ran over by a 18 wheeler before that could happen.
After a 23 year lapse, I bought a 1990 Honda Pacific Coast to see if
I would like riding again. I logged over 30K in the first 12 months
The Honda is a great bike but small and crampy. The 1100 "fits" much
better. Sorry for such a long post. I guess you could say I'm
excited LOL. I'm sure I will be asking the wisdom of the list a few
stupid questions in the near future as I get this baby back on the
road where she belongs. The picture is from the 4-sale ad. Mike
