:side: I picked up a 1979 KZ400 last Thursday. Found it on Craigslist for $200. I didn't bother trying to get it for less. I would have felt even more guilty. The seller even delivered it to my house, 30 minutes drive, no extra charge!

I didn't hear the bike run before I bought it but overall first judgement was good. I thought my husband could have it running in a day...and he did! I didn't get a picture of it before he went to town on it. He already replaced the handlebars and the blinkers had to be removed to fit the clubmans.

I had been contemplating getting a smaller bike and had just looked at a 1975 HondaCB400:blush: that was in bad shape. After looking at the Honda I was on a roll. I got back on Craigslist and found the Kawi. I told my husband about it and he said, nah, he wasn't interested. I could not help myself: I drove out to take a look at it and it was a steal! Only 8,300 miles. Looks like it spent most its life in the garage. Minimal rust and pretty clean. I don't mind the black primer. It looks more stylish than the faded paint on my KZ650.

I hope it has enough power for the highway.

Stoked!

Nice find.

My 400 will hit 65 easy, I don't think I've had to take it higher than that, so for me, plenty of power for the highway.

I drove the KZ650 to school this morning. Only about 15 miles but it's a beautiful day and on my way home I was really feeling how nice of a ride the 650 is. So smooth and solid. It purrs at 80mph. It moans at 65 like it's not going fast enough. Sometimes I wonder if I should stay in 4th gear longer. I am very curious to feel how the 400 will be.

I like the flat black look. Get a pudding bowl helmet some goggles and a silk scarf and awaaaay you go. Surprised you want to go down to a 400 from the 650. Is the 650 a little to physically large for you?
