Hello everyone!
Blown away already by the sheer amount of info i found here, thank you for sharing your projects and resources.
This is my first Kawasaki, i used to ride a Ducati 900 Supersport and Vespas, so this is all new territory for me.

Yesterday i was gifted a KZ750E, UK model. That is right: i got it as a gift from a good friend, who is a motorcycle mechanic, worked on the bike years back, but moved and decided someone else should enjoy the restoration process. Funny enough, it has exactly my age, which must be sign.

It s been sitting for almost 10 years, so it s in rought shape, but complete. Bike was used for pizza deliveries in London UK for years. Imagine an air cooled 4 cyl in that traffic.Previous owner installed a narrower handlebar for lane splitting.

First things first, can someone help me verify the exact model?
VIN is KZ750E - 007337. I assume this either a E1 or E2. Problem is the bike s colour is some sort of midnight blue, which is not a E1 or E2 colour.
I am planning a frame off restoration, so the road ahead is long and full of surprises!

Best,
Mihai

That VIN makes it an E1.

The frame number you posted falls with in the range listed for the 1980 E1 model according to Zedder
zedder.com/Info/80%20KZ750-E1.htm
I have also attached the list from the back of a FSM that shows frame numbers for the start of each year/model

As to colors it may have been repainted at some point,  the info at Zedder indicates of the 80, 81 or 82 E models only the 82 E3 was offered in any version of blue (Luminous Gun Blue). I have no idea what that shade of blue looks like or if it is anything close your machine.

Having said all of that it appears that it is all there and a great starting point for your project.

Welcome from Canada.
Nice gift. That will keep you busy for a whille.  Looks like its all there. A few small differences with my 1980 E1 (below) but maybe just North America vs European models.

I'm not into "restoration or period correct" . I just keep it in good condition, keep it running and keep riding it.  The 750 is a good solid engine.  I have a few km less than 100,000 on it and assuming it fires up again in the spring I should cross that line in the first few eeeks riding.
Enjoy your project

10 years back i started my Ducati 900SS project, but i had my own garage and lots of spare time. It took me two years to finish it and i loved every single minute spent around it.

But this 750 is already under my skin. Spent her best years on the streets of London, ridden by an English teacher tryin’ to make ends meet. It was a loyal companion, and i feel we owe these old brutes a little tlc in return.
Just printed 400 pages of the service manual, so i guess this is the start of a new adventure.

We are all suckers for these old bikes because they used to make us feel something, they made the time we spent riding feel special.

Here we go.

already stated above, it is a repaint. stock paint would have had pin striping. colors, some 750E models came in L.G. Blue. probably Luminous Gun Blue as noted in an ad/brochure. the L.G. Black in the E2/E3 fuel tank diagram may be an error, probably should be Blue, not black. the side cover diagram says L.G.Blue.
