Unfortunately there is a limit to how much testing you can do with components like these without an oscilloscope, if everything "up to" the components check out ok it's usually a safe bet that the component is faulty

Just to wrap up this thread, I'm good to go now. Got the aftermarket ignition installed and got to hear her run for the first time.
For posterity, with this aftermarket ignition, you bypass the ignitor box entirely. 12v goes to the red wire, then the other two wires go the the coils respectively. You can use the 4 bundle wire connection that goes to the coils to tap into 12 volts (the red wire) then the pickups go to the green and black wires.
