Welcome to the site!
I live in the north campus/hyde park area. What kind of work do you need done to your bike?
Cool to meet another person in Austin who rides KZ's. I've only seen a handfull in the 4yrs I've lived here. The only bike shops around here who are willing to work on old bikes aren't very good at it. They like doing small jobs such as chains, sprockets, tires, cables, and other basic maintenance. Plus they charge way too much for the level of service they provide.
I work on my own bikes. The only thing I don't do myself are tire changes, and even then the only place I will take the wheel is Bike Doctor, off of 51st street. The only two tires I have ever brought to TJ's were both mounted incorrectly and that was the last they saw of my business.
Let me know if you want to meet up sometime. I don't mind helping out with your bike if I can. It sure beats spending a bunch of $$$ to have someone other guy guess at it.
