Welcome. I'm sure some members here will give you some offers on the exhausts.

Welcome, gt007!

To give you an idea of what current retail price of the exhaust systems is, go to www.bikebandit.com and be prepared for a surprise! Those amounts will likely be in US Dollars. Another resource is eBay to learn what such things are bringing on the market.

Welcome gt0071!

You first have to determine which exhausts you truly have. The MKII label was only applied to 1979 and 1980 Z1000's. If you are positive the year designation is 1982, then you have either J, K, or M model exhausts. I don't know which models were sold in Australia. If you are positive they are MKII exhausts, then they can't be 1982 editions. The MKII bikes are now fairly rare (there was a fellow on eBay very recently who tried to sell a new set and it didn't draw near the attention he thought it might...hence, the set didn't sell). To help verify what you have, you might also try Alan at Z Power Australia (google it) as he has a chat group associated with his site.

ok, well i spoke to my dad beore and he said they were definately Mk exhausts, but he didnt know the exact year only that it was somewhere around the early early 80's
so it could really be either. is there any way to find out which year exactly??

gt007:

You might try www.buykawasaki.com and navigate your way through the site to reach the exploded diagrams. Mother Kawasaki has generously supplied on-line diagrams for all the old Kawasaki's. It can be tedious (depending on your connection and computer) but you might be able to intuit differences between late 70's and early 80's Z bike exhausts.

Don't be surprised by prices...few of us actually buy from Kawasaki...can't afford it and the markup is criminal. Just because the part is listed doesn't actually mean they have it either. Many people will advertize on eBay by stating 'Kawasaki sells this for US$1600 but I only want US$1000' thinking it will be snapped up by hungry buyers. Usually not so. Wait and buy it used on eBay for US$29.95...
