another new guy was created by plankton25
Hello to all. My name is Sam and I am in the process of getting a 1978 kz 400. I have no experiance with with street bikes. However, this one looks like it will be a lot of fun to fix up and ride. Any suggestions or tips would be more than welcome.

Welcome to KZr plankton25.
First things first, get yourself a repair manual (preferably a FSM and/or a Clymers) before diving into the anything on your bike.
Not to steer you away from here, but there's actually another site that is specific to the KZ400's, and the members there will be able to answer your model specific questions more readily:
kz400.com/
The KZ400's and KZ440's are great starter bikes due to their size and overall simplicity of design. Some folks use them as their main form of transportation, so you know that they can be a realiable ride if cared for properly.
Be forewarned though, KZ's are very habit forming.
Before long, you'll find yourself scouring eBay for KZ parts and will eventually end up with a few more Kaws in your stable.
