riding jacket question

Hello I am a new rider atleast to the streets at leat on a streat bike I bought my first motorcycle it is a 79 kz650 and I would like to know what you guys think is good riding jacke I live in the desert so I dont want to kill my self by wearing my leather jacket threw the summer I know it will protect me it is very thick and that is why i dont want to wear it in the summer at 120 degree heat so if you have any sugestions please let me know? Also I was wondering what does the C.E. protectors mean

i personally like First Gear Kilamanjaro but it may be a bit hot for your area.
CE is a european rating system kinda like our DOT ratings for helmets and such

You might want to check out any non-black three season mesh jacket w/removable liner. Leather or synthetic.

I use several First Gear products with great results.

I also have a First Gear textile type jacket (two color, black plus various choices), with a removable liner, zip open vents, and elbow, shoulder and back armour. I bought it on sale at the local SF Cycle Gear store because it was such a bargain ($100). I figured it would last a year, and I would get something to replace it when it fell apart. That was about 4 years ago, and despite regular use (I commute to work, 24 mile round trip, about 4 days a week on my bike), and getting tossed in the washing machine many times, it is still in great shape (except for some some minor road grime stains that will likely never come out). I would definitely buy another First Gear jacket.

I picked up one of those padded Joe Rocket leather jackets last year and I really like it. It is warm and offers some extra padded in case I do a body slide on the blacktop. It has to be better than my 25 year old riding jacket but I'd rather not have to test the padding's wear resistance.

Along with the crotch-rocket style jacket I have a matching modern helmet. It is kinda funny when someone takes a look at me in my new gear then looks down at my 30 year old ride. Call it a clash of generations and flavors but it works for me.

I have a Joe Rocket, it does the trick. Make sure you get one that is the right size. If it's too big, when you get up to speed the jacket will make you look like the pilsbury dough boy and it will feel like you're going to fly away.
