How are you guys? My name is Shawn. 21 years old. All of my life, ive been a car guy. Never cared too much for motorcycles really, untill my aunt gave me her old motorcycle. She had an 83 KZ550 LTD. He bought it and it wouldnt run, one of the ignition modules (i dont know what it was, she doesnt remember the name) had to be replaced, and it ran good as new. She had the tank and side covers painted, added some highway pegs, windshield, little sissy bar, other odds and ends. She bought a 2001 Suzuki Intruder, and didnt have time for the KZ anymore, so she gave it to me.
Being a car guy, and being someone who has always done my own work, im very confident in my abilities to make this bike look as good as it once had, and get it running flawlessly. THe carbs need rebuilding, and it needs mostly some TLC.
Anyways, here are the pictures of the bike, the pictures dont do the color justice. Its a yellow pearl.
And while im at it, one of each of my birds.

If I was you I would keep that bike forever, just the way it is. I like the skeleton, both me and my mom. My mom is a nurse.

By the way Shawn, you do know there are no carbs in that pic rite? Post your pics in the gallery and also work on getting a signature...... the list of info that shows where we are located and the bikes we own. You can do that by going into your profile and fiddlin wid stuff. Nope I am not a redneck! lol Welcome by the way

Dont worry, the bike is staying as is for the most part. Im going to clean it up, paint some things, polish others, but im leaving the tank and the side covers alone. I plan on documenting the tank and side covers very well, in case something happens, i can have them replicated.
I know the carbs are off of it. The reason the bike doesnt run is that one of the floats are stuck, and the jets are clogged in one of the carbs. Im doing some reading before i get rebuild kits and tear into these things not knowing what im doing.
Ill get a signature, and all that set up, just havnt had much time between work, girlfriend, and the other forums im on.
Hopefully i can get some better pictures once this weather dies down. We've got some nasty slick roads.

Tbird,
Noticed the Maryland tags on your 'birds. Where d'ya live? I'm in Southern Maryland, Brandywine/Aquasco area. Got an '81 KZ550 LTD myself. If you're close, let's go riding (once it warms up... and expect more ice this weekend).

Welcome to the site!
Nice to have another 550 in the population.
These guys let their 'big bikes' get to their heads.
