I’ve been lurking around this forum since I bought my KZ650 back in April. I have learned a ton of great stuff and now that I am starting to do some more serious work I figured I would join so I could post and ask some questions.
Bike sat for years. Only ran on two cylinders when I bought it. After a THOROUGH carb cleaning, new battery, TOTAL rewire to fix electrical gremlins, and new plugs she ran OK for the rest of the season (my first season of biking, I should add).
More later...

Hey Guys,
Thanks for your support! To answer your question rstnick, I’m not sure what year it is. It certainly has had a lot of work done on it and has been in at least one crash by the looks of it. My guess is 78 - 80 but the original Kawasaki frame number is missing. I will post what I know about in another section and maybe someone can help me out.
Pics with the tank on coming soon!!

Based on what I can see in the pic you either have a 78 KZ650 B2 or a 79 KZ650 B3.

Welcome to KZr CFizO.
The Mikuni carbs hint to a 70's model 650, but that seat and handlebars look more like what was OEM on an 80's CSR or LTD 650 model, yet the engine has obviously received a coat of black paint on the cases, cylinder and cylinder head, which was not OEM on any of the 650's that I know of.
Hm, very perplexing.
Perhaps if you could post some pics of it at diff angles (with the tank), and/or include the frame number (it should be stamped into the front of the frame), we could give you an accurate model and date of your steed.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I started a new thread to help ID my mysterious bike.

I will also get some more pictures up soon with different angles and details which may help ID the bike.
Thanks Again!
