Hello, everyone!
I am a GEEZER rider from SoCal.
I have an original condiditon 1983 KZ750 - I bought it in 1985 with 1,100 miles on the odometer. I took it from Texas to SoCal when I moved in 1985. I rode it for a while in SoCal, but soon decided that riding on the LA freeways was not the same (not as safe) as riding on the Ft. Worth roads. So, it sat in the garage for the better part of twenty years - I started it occassionally.
I had it "resurrected" last spring. It now has about 4,700 miles on the odometer. What a hoot. It is a great compliment to my VTX1800C. In fact, I enjoy riding it so much now that I do a fair amount of canyon carving with a friend who has an '06 GSXR1000.
OK, the KZ isn't much of a match for the GIXXER, so two weeks ago I bought an '06 SV1000S. Now, I can ride with him on four cylinders or TWO!!
Hey, have fun and I hope to see some of y'all on the road soon!
Regards,
Joe T.

Welcome to the dark side Joe!
Don't worry, I won't tell Lynn or any of the other San Bernardino (or Oceanside) Geezers that you're hangin' out on a non-cruiser site and talking about hitting the twisties.

Folks,
I may post a few pictures of the KZ once we get home from our Christmas trip. I especially like the "mummified" waxwing skeleton that is in the instrument panel!!
By the way, my "younger" friend, who has the '06 GIXXER, can leave me behind on the straights, but I can still lose him on the twisties! But, that won't last forever. He is getting better every ride. Hence, the SV1000S!!
Do the vintage KZ owners have any sort of "Bike Nights" in the Santa Clarita / San Fernando Valley areas?
Regards,
Joe T.

Joe T. there are a number of So Cal KZR members...I think there are several threads from a recent ride (it was adventuresome, if I recall:) )

Bad on my part Joe. :pinch:
When you said you were a GEEZER, I thought you meant you were a member of Geezers MC , a group I've ridden with quite a few times.
Here's a link to some pics taken by KZr member JoeK, who along with myself was on the ride McDroid mentioned:
KZ Rider So Cal Ride - Sep 10, 2006 .
The ride was a blast, and some of us are hopefully planning on more like it this coming spring!

Hey, that looks great!! The Ortega Highway is a fantastic ride.
Maybe we can arrange a ride in Northern LA County. I think y'all would like some of the roads we ride from Santa Clarita to Lake Elizabeth / Gorman / Lockwood Valley / 33 / Ojai.
When I return from Texas I will post a ride.
Thanks again, great pictures!
