Wow...talk about timing. I got a line on a gs1100 arm as well(keeping fingers crossed!!!).....so I second the motion for that re-post.....
Someone who has done this should do a write-up as far as what all is needed. Would be doing everybody a huge favor!!!!

Someone posted close up pics of the gs swingarm conversion with arrows pointing to the spacers and listing what they are. Well I finally got my color printer working and now I can't find them. Could you please post them again? Thanx.

well, the foam that i used is the foam that hobby people use to put plastic flowers in (ya know like at a restaraunt) it worked out great. easy to shape and very light. glues together easily to make more.
alss i am going to do is frame it. then fiberglass over it. it has a ridge about 2" high in the back of the seat. so i will put a little pad there.
as far as the swing arm and tire, they are off of a 2003 gsxr. the front is going to be the same. (a matching set)
i will keep you guys up dated with pics on the seat stuff.

Here it is guys, shot some pictures today. As promised in the "mod or stock" post. It's not done, but well on it's way. The goal was to build a stripped down, period cafe without getting into streetfighter-mods.
What it's got:
Fresh topend (73' head and cylinders)
Hooker header
reversed forks w/ fresh head bearings
forkbrace
stainless lines
drilled disk
small sealed battery
reg/rec combo
kickstart only (no starter
tach only
custom "seat"
reversed pegs
cut shift lever, GP shift
What's it's getting:
new coils and cables
rear shocks (konis or...)
possibly fiberglass seat
The wishlist:
progressive springs (front)
cafe tank
stainless spokes
aluminum rims
dresda swingarm
different tach
Coils, cables and shocks will happen shortly. Some sort of seat, cafe or flattrack style will be looked at as well. Right now it's just layered foam over a homemade aluminum base (the wife is short one yoga mat hehe). Not too comfortable, but not bad either.
It weighs less than my wifes kz650 and goes like stink.

Wireman. Finder of all things missing! Funny you should mention those endcaps and bolts for the swingarm. Seems like I left them around here somewhere. Probably lost.....got junk laying all around here......Hmmm...probably have to go buy a set. I'll never find them here.....
Thanks for the input. I'm really as clueless as I come across. I'll find that manual around here somewhere. Meanwhile, I guess I'll disassemble this wheel.....
Yep, they were repainted. Something about the harsh reality of a camera flash and how it shows the spots that were missed. Now where did I leave that can of touch-up paint.....

Rice Paddy in Columbus, ohio was created by high toned son of a bitch

Hey, went to the rice paddy today looking for some parts, swingarm conversion to mono shock. The guys boss had a 78 chain drive 900 with front and rear suspension from a 91 FZR. Looked really sweat. Front had upside down forks, gave it a real sporty look.
These guys have tons of KZ stuff. They have chrome rear swingarms and a lot of custom type stuff. Boxes and boxes full of misc. cables, turn signals, mirror, hand grips, controlls, gages, foot pegs, seats, tanks........... Its more or less a huge used parts place for older bikes of all brands. The one guy that was working said that they make up aluminum mono shock rear conversion kits for about $300, ready to bolt on. Not a bad deal if you can't match everything yourself.
I was wondering why mono shock swingarms have the lever on the bottom side of the swingarm? Is this for leverage or to fit a longer shock? I was thinking of just welding tabs onto my swingarms on the top where the brace is and bolting the shock there, would this work or do you have to have it lower for handling purposes?

I think baldy110 did this, or something like this, maybe pm himUpdate .. I read on here somewhere that the swing arm pivot bolt could be used as the axle if bushings were made for the swing arm,, or atleast that is the way I took it .. it turns out that the pivot bolt is long enough and uses the same nut as the axle But the center is smaller in size than the axle .. so this means you have to change the wheel bearings then drill out all your spacers , Caliper bracket to the larger 20mm ..![]()

:pinch: I found whell bearings at my local bike shop at around 10.00 each ..

Hey I am wanting to do the same thing. A few questions:
1) Is that GPZ 900 swingarm any longer than the stock? I actually want to extend the swingarm a bit on my kz650.
2) Also can I just get any spare wheel off of Ebay & put it on a KZ650? What are some things to consider when getting spare rims from different bikes & putting them on the KZ650.
3) I also want to put a mini disc on the front. Any ideas on which will fit or which stock wheels from another bike have the minidisc already & a disc on back (I think 18 or 19 on back & 21 on front).
Thanx!
