I don't know, but two possibilities are that the chain guard mounts are different & maybe the SR is wider to accept a fatter tire? Both models use the same axle, so maybe the width is the same, but the SR has a chrome chain guard w 3 mounting bolts so that may be the reason for the different part numbers. If he has to swap swing arms, then that starts getting into pain-in-butt territory. to me anyway. I prefer things easy. hee.

On my '77 KZ650C1, I replaced Michelin Macadam tires with Pirelli Sport Demons. The Macadams were fairly old at that point and had about 6,700 miles on them and they were the source of a high speed (90+ mph) wobble despite being properly mounted and balanced and having very much tread left. Below 90 mph the wobble was not noticeable, and even though I only hit 90+ occasionally the thought of the wobble waiting there for me was unnerving. I replaced my bike's wheel bearings, steering stem bearings, and swingarm bushings in trying to eliminate the wobble; I already had new top quality shocks. I'm glad I replaced those items, and doing so reduced (masked) the severity of the wobble a bit, but those items obviously were not the source of the problem as it persisted. After replacing the Michelins with the Pirellis the wobble was totally eliminated. I have taken the bike up to an indicated 120mph and it is completely stable. This problem was 11 years ago and no trace of the wobble has ever returned.

I'm not saying that your wobble is a problem with your tires; it may or may not be. I'm just letting you know what I experienced on my bike. One question - did the wobble start gradually over time with the current tires on the bike or did it start when the tires were first mounted? I ask because the wobble on my bike gradually started over time. I guess that was as the tires wore some or aged even though they looked like they were in very good condition. Ed

I was going to pull them and measure first  . My suspicion is that the brass bushings are probably worn, but maybe not the steel sleeves. These are getting really hard to find. I don't see any z1 or allBalls kits either :(

I think I could just press the whole thing out from one end, if I can find a something like a socket to use as a bearing press. But it needs to be narrow enough to fit inside the brass bushing, yet have a big enough hole in the middle for a strong bolt.

How do you pull the swingarm sleeve
www.cmsnl.com/products/sleeve-swing-arm-shrt_33034013/
...out? Do you drive both sleeves and spacer out from one end, or use a tool (90-degree dental pick?) to try to hook the spacer and pull it out?

Just to verify that's what I'm seeing, when I shine a light through where the bolt ran, I can see a faint line about 1 and 1/3 inches in (is the sleeve about 1.3 inches long?). But it doesn't feel like I can get a tool in to pull-out the sleeve.

I've got some PBBlaster on it for tonight.

Replied by martin_csr on topic Will kz440ltd swing arm fit directly to kz305?

I doubt anybody knows for sure. I did not see an 83 model at Partzilla, but there is an 82 KZ305-B1. I have no idea if it will work, but the CSR Belt has some of the same swing arm components as some of the 400/440 models. same swing arm shaft, needle bearings & cap, but the swing arm sleeve is different. I didn't check the other stuff. I would compare EB swing arms to yours. and at least measure the width where it fits the frame.

DoctoRot wrote: that clearly has surface rust on the rollers.

Two thoughts. One is that it may not be surface rust. I could the cosmoline like stuff Kawasaki covered their bearings with. I know the swingarm shafts I bought had brown goopy stuff that cleaned off.

Second, I can find similar needle roller bearings with "machined ring". However, the one catalog I looked at didn't have the exact size. I'm assuming based on the numbers on the picture you show, your bearing is 24mm ID, 36mm OD, and 20mm wide?

This one is not right, but similar.
www.skf.com/ph/products/rolling-bearings...s/productid-NKS%2024

Of course, some of the pricing I noticed was similar to the NOS parts on Ebay, so it might not save you that much.

Have you tried to flush out the bearings already in your case really well? As long as the rollers are not damaged yet, then it's just a matter of getting the glitter out.

Okay first pic, I hope this posts okay,

I only have a couple of worthy pics available at this time and the bike wasnt completly finished when I took them. I still have a lot cosmetic work to do. The PO had glued Kawasaki emblems onto the tank and they started to peel up at the ends. When I removed them it took the paint with. So now Im looking at a complete re-painting. One nice thing though, the PO had the factory swing arm chrome plated.

My bike also has an 84 ZN1100 LTD head with shim on top. I found the whole engine on Craigslst for $200. At the time, neither the seller nor myself knew it was a ZN1100. Im now using the head and crank. The block is a bored 1089 off an 82 KZ1100.

Hey Myke !!
It's been a long time, I am wondering how the bike is doing.
After moving to Washington, most of my time is spent fixing up an old house. I finally have the urge to start on the 86 GSXR. It was parked next to the KZ when you first saw it at that show in California
How did the motor refresh go and are you on the road with the bike?.
