Hello everyone, I have a dilemma. I have replaced the Speedo Gear Box on my Kawasaki KZ1000 A1 motorcycle, but the new part has a 12mm hole for the cable, while the original had an 11mm hole.

I wonder if a speedometer cable from a Kawasaki J would work on my bike.

J models don't use a cable they are electronic speedo's and are driven by electrical pulses.
The drive at the wheel is a hal sensor that generates pulses not a mechanical drive that spins a cable.

Z1000J2 somewhat modified!

FWIW being in South America & all, Motion Pro custom make cables in any configuration. They have helped me out many times in the past.

Thanks Warren3200gt and slayer61 for replying.

These Japanese don't know anything!.

Specifically, the Speedo Gear Box that I bought was this, but I did not realize that the size of the cable connection changed, and I do not realize which cable to buy.

In the end I had one made here at a local store, but the quality is lamentable.

The '80 model Kz1000 MK.II and the LTD use a speedo cable that has the bigger diameter piece that screws onto the speedo drive. Its a tad bigger than the speedo cables for the '78 and '79 Kz1000's. I think the Kawasaki part number is 54001-1024 for that cable. I believe its NLA though...
