If they are the same as my 76D3 then they have been NOLA for years. I'm adapting a EX500 caliper to work on my KZ400.
There is a guy on eBay who is selling a seal that is supposed to work but I didn't have any luck with it.

Any luck in adapting that EX500 caliper ThatGPzGuy ?
I have a 400 B2 and cannot find a proper piston and seal replacement... I would love to find a solution that doesn't involve swapping the entire front end just to fit a caliper..
Cheers

Have you tried brakecrafters.com? They helped me source stainless steel caliper pistons and seals for my 77' KZ 1000LTD. They also helped me figure out what rear brake caliper I have, it is not what the manual says. It turned out to be from a KZ 750. It's the original caliper and mount, the bike has been in the family since new.

Sadly, no. I've been busy on other projects. There was a write-up on how to do it on KZ400.com but that site has been problematic. I did do the conversion on my H1 so I know how it is done and it is not complicated.

Was the conversion like what's on this video ? :

Thank you Kelly, I actually already contacted Brakecrafters, following your advice in a topic I started regarding the KZ400 B caliper !
But unfortunately they do not have pistons nor seals for this model...

Will a caliper from an 81 KZ440 LTD work on your bike?  I've got one currently sitting that worked perfectly before putting something else on.

From the Partzilla link above the piston ring seal is part #43049-004 (not -1001) (#10 diagram ref number).
Someone on another forum posted that a Harley-Davidson 44047-83 piston seal will work (the square cut o-ring).
He didn't mention the other rubber parts. But the friction seal is readily available for cheap on EB; the other one is there as well but $$$ pricy.

Hi Daniels,

No, it would not work. In order to fit a kz400H LTD or kz440 LTD caliper, this fork swap is needed : kzrider.com/forum/5-chassis/597812-kz400...r-fork-swap-tutorial
I haven't done it, I actually found suitable seals and a piston but I need to install a MC repair kit before testing them and haven't found the time to do so.
I will let you know if that worked!

Hi all,

Just wanted to update this thread.
The replacement seal and piston I ordered did not work, unfortunately so I moved on from it and completed the fork swap linked in my previous thread.
I did have a set of fork legs from a KZ400H with the front axle and front caliper which made it straightforward and cheap.
This was easier than I thought so, for anyone contemplating doing it, I would say go for it.
One thing I did different however, instead of opening up the fork boot axle diameter to fit my KZ400B front axle, is to fit wheel bearings that would accomodate the KZ400H front axle.
Which means I used both KZ400H fork boots, the 400H front axle and caliper, and the only mod I had to do on the left fork boot was to mill down the caliper mounting bosses.
Following Fiddles tutorial, I then added a spacer to centre my front wheel and that was it.

Cheers
