can anyone tell me if it is possible to make your own offset sprocket?sprockets i do believe are hardened as i tried turning one in my lathe and all it did was take the edge off my cutter,any info would help.

Give Sprocket Specialist or JT Sprockets a call and ask what alloy is used in making the sprockets. Then you can determine how to harden it again after annealing it so you can cut it.

Did you use HSS or carbide?

I took a sprocket for a CBX project and WEDM'd the center out, and then had it welded to another sprocket. that gave us the ofset of one sprocket thick and was enought to clear the 180 rear tire we put on

Did the same on my dragbike. Just make sure you make the hole big enough to get a socket on the nut

The standard Kaw countershaft sprocket nut is a 20mm but the outside uses a 27mm socket. The problem you will find if you need to replace this nut is a standard 20mm nut will generally use a 30mm socket so the hole you make would be well served to accomodate a 30mm socket and also be large enough to bend the tabs on a locking countershaft washer nut.
