Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out with the problem i have on my '78 KZ 1000A, for some reason, some how the small pin behind the points plate is sheared off as you can see in the attachments. Is this something that someone else has encountered? I'm looking for ideas on a fix. I'm thinking it could be removed and something like a wrist pin installed or if there is a replacement pin made for this. I'm dead in the water until this gets fixed.
thanks everyone for any thoughts.....
Terry

The difficult part is to remove broken pin. The pin is made of hardened steel like a needle bearing roller.

I broke a pin on a Z1 crank during an engine rebuild. I pulled the engine apart and took the crank to a machinist. He extracted the remaining piece of the pin and replaced it with a steel dowel. A machinist might be able to replace the pin without dismantling the engine.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Hey guys just an update on my problem. I was able to extract the sheared pin fairly easily with a drill bit. I then took a slightly larger drill bit and cut it down and tapped it in as shown in the pics. I’m installing a dyna S ignition with accel coils. My new problem I’ve found is after I hooked up the 12v signal wire I checked the voltage mid way in the wire and the voltage drops to around 10.5v. Is this normal? Do I have a problem somewhere to cause the voltage drop. Thanks for any support.

Voltage drop...well it depends.

put your meter on DC V
ignition on/engine off
black probe on negative battery post(post is the metal part of battery)
red probe on positive battery post
note voltage

move red probe to positive side of coil
note voltage
could be about 1 volt of difference from reading above

move black probe to positive post on battery while red is still on positive side of coil.
note voltage
reading should be below .5 volts
any higher then your voltage drop may be excessive

turn off bike
