I just received a used set of RS series flat slide carbs today and I found the choke knob in pieces. I have checked everywhere that I know of for this part and can't find it. I can't believe that I would be the only person to have ever needed this part. Mikuni doesn't list it either. They do list the "starter shaft assy" which includes the knob, but there is no part number for that either! Even Sudco doesn't list it.

Does anyone know where I can get a Mikuni knob? Or perhaps another knob of the same size? I really need to have a functioning choke and I'd like it fixed right. Your help is appreciated, as always.
Thanks!

Looks like the same diagram...no choke knob listed. I don't speak German or I'd send an email. Thanks anyway!

At least I think that's German...is it?

Yes, I would definitely be interested in anything that fits correctly. I'm just not sure where to buy a knob if not through Mikuni. Please let me know if you find anything. Thanks!

OK, thanks. I sent an email, so we'll see if I hear back from him. I also sent another 4 or 5 emails on Saturday and haven't heard back from anyone:( I guess the part isn't expensive enough for them to bother????

Well, I heard back from Mr. Topham in Germany and the knob is only available as an assy with the choke rod. The cost is around $20 plus shipping, which has to be at least $10. That's a pretty expensive plastic knob! I wrote back to see if he has one in stock, so if he does I may have to pull the trigger and spend the money. The carbs don't work too well without the choke knob! I can't believe that none of these so called Mikuni dealers have even replied to my inquiry! Haven't heard back from Sudco, Schnitz, Carb-Parts, or several others. Only the gentlemen from Germany! What a PITA for a damn plastic choke knob. This is crazy! I can't be the only one who's broken one of these.

Any luck wireman? I have found several aftermarket knobs but they are all threaded. Mine us just pressed on, so I don't think it would work. I would need a press fit or maybe a set screw type. There has to be a decent knob out there somewere...

Is the rod threaded?
If so, buy a knob. If you can't find same thread then buy with a smaller insert and tap to fit.
Lots of places selling knobs.
Maybe an Aluminum kitchen hardware pull knob or a knob for automotive or electronic use.

Got a set of BS carbs with pull choke? Knob might fit?

Hey Duck,
No, it's not threaded. It's a press fit. I guess I'll have to find a universal type knob with a set screw and go with that. I just can't believe Mikuni wouldn't sell this part. That makes no sense to me. I'm sure these break all the time. They are just cheap plastic.

The German connection appears to have fallen through. His last email suggested I go to Sudco...been there, done that.

Universal or you might thread the end of the rod.
For the press fit then a pull knob for kitchen and some good 24 hour cure epoxy cement should hold it on there forever if you clean both parts real well first. I had a 2-stroke scooter with a broken crank case and epoxy cement held it together just fine.
