So I'm going to replace my clutch cable at some point..hopefully sooner than later. As I read through the manual I see that they say to use the Shift Oil Seal Guide 57001-264 NOS. So I go and try to find one, without much luck...partzilla said they sold them but in the end they couldn't get them in stock, I couldn't find one on ebay either. My question is are these oil seal guides imperative for these kind of repairs? i have found the kick shaft oil seal guide 57001-265 which I purchased on ebay for 30 bucks. What should I do for this shift shaft guide... do you guys use them or is there some sort of aftermarket part I can buy which would be cheaper and easier to find? I'm really not sure what the guides do other than hold the seal in place when you reinstall.. I guess when I do the above mentioned repair I'll find out just how necessary they really are (I really don't want a oil leak somewhere that wasn't leaking before the repair). Suggestions would be appreciated

No i would say you should not need any special guide tools. Use a lube, like Sil-Glide, or Vasiline, on the sealing surface to help it slide together. On the sprocket seal, you can use a small pick, or screwdriver to help start the seal.
