Zed1015  I have also been wrencing on engines alot the last 45 years so you beat me by 5 years =)  This disease started when i was about 10 or 12 working on vespa piaggio 50cc and other 50cc bikes . I agree 0.05 mm is very little clearance and expecially on the exhaustvalves
I will keep an eye on them they are now around 0.08 mm up to 0.10mm one is 0.06 but that is a intakevalve. Next time i check them i will increase the clearances.
Thanks for information

Not sure if i should make a new tread but it is related to both the tread in electrical section and here. The bike has been running great after fixing the timingchain ,but then she started to make smokesignals when started in the morning .I took the trip to kawa dealer again and bought new valvestemseals and some more shims so i could increase valvelash on some valves. The job vas a nightmare when head is sitting in bike
i have done this before on other bike so decided to try.It was more difficult that i ecpected one reason was that the valvesprings had more tension than on a 16 valve engine and the inntake on 2 and 3 was difficult to work on.I used 2 days to get the job done.I will not do it again and dont recomend anyone to do the same =) The old seals looked like they had been in there since 1976 bone hard and crackled when trying to get them out.
So then it was time for a testride. When started up she did a little smoking ,but not a big cloud like before i guess that is just some oil left in the exhaust.
Today i was on the testride and notised that it got some valve ticking ,but that is just because of the bigger lash i hope =). It ran great for 15 minutes then there was some misfiring
not backfiring .I then smelled burnt electrical wiring like i did about 2 weeks ago when the timingchain had jumped one tooth off
It got worce and i had to pull the choke to keep it running. Stopped at a parking and pulled the the gastank to investigate more...

I have the green Dyna coils on my Z1 and my KZ1000.  They are matched with DynaS pickups.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Okay i think i will  go for the green dyna coils ,but not sure i can find them here in Norway. How can i be sure that the green dyna is original and not some replica shit? I think the dyna s sitting on the bike now is some replica stuff.Maybe that is why the coil melted ? I have read in some treads here that its important that the ignition not  stays on for more than 5 minutes when engine is off so i was careful that i did not do that mistake when checked the timing earlier. But wondering why the coil melted  when riding?

5 mins is quite a long time for an old coil - to be fair depending on it's age it may have simply reached the end of it's life

Yes i read that . When i was testing the ignition i just switched it on for maby 2 minutes max at time. Can this coilmelt have something to do with  i replaced the 5 ohm plugcaps with 1 ohm caps ??

Thanks for the link Hardrockminer !  only thing is i need them superfast because i want to ride the bike more before winter . I found some coils advertised here local 15 minutes from me
they are supposed to work on many older bikes, but i dont know what the resistant values are i will ask the seller. They have 90mm c/c so i think they fit the kz900.
They have no markings and seller wants 160 usd for them .I dont know if i will buy them here are some pics of the coils

Changing the plug caps (secondary resistance) will only effect the strength of the spark not the coil itself

I have found some selling green dynacoils in uk and also germany, but looking at some picktures they differ in color some are green matte som are green glossy so i may end up with some bad chinese stuff. Anyway the seller that i may buy the coils from i was my neighbor when i was a kid and he had a kz1000a1 and later a z1R 1000 he has very long experience with kawasaki bikes .He did not know the resistance he just say they will work.
After thinking about this i starting to wonder if there is a problem with the chain and sliders beeing worn out ,and that the chain jumps even if the tensioner is set . Last time the bike started to run bad i checked the camchain it had jumped a tooth and on the little trip i did then i cold smell burnt electrical wiring.I then found the chain was one tooth out on timing.
This time (yesterday)  when i had finished replacing the valvestemseals  i did the testride and it ran fine to begin with ,but i then felt a little hickup or thump from engine right before it started to misfire and run very bad and also smelled burnt electrikal this time.I dont know if it is possible to feel the camchain jumping ,but i think that is what has happened again =).
Is it possible that the coils get fried when timing is one tooth out? .I took some snapshot of the camchainslider and stuff with a snakcamera .Tell me if the slider is broken off in the bottom end .I can see it is totally worn out and i will have to replace probably the rollers to this winter. Here are some pick i took

The front chain guide is worn but still intact and can only be replaced by removing the head and barrels.
Dyna coils can be matt or glossy .
The genuine ones have "DYNA" moulded into the body.
Copies are just plain blank in the same area and there are no copies with the DYNA logo..
Cam timing cannot affect the coils..
