An impact driver helps remove the engine cover screws
Excellent point! I was thinking that the cover is fastened with M6 bolts, but some may use M6 screws. You will need to buy a proper screwdriver called JIS standard. Otherwise you can easily strip the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Vessel makes really nice impact JIS screwdrivers.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
I love my JIS screwdrivers. They are a must for sure. That said, for engine cover bolts, a standard #3 phillips head bit, as supplied in most common Impact Driver kits, work just fine for the engine cover screws. Don't try #2, that's too small.
