I just bought my first bike last week, an 82 KZ440, and while I am waiting for my manual to arrive, I do have a burning question. I noticed that directly behind the motor are two tubes that are open on the bottom, they look like some sort of drain hose. One of the hoses looks like it has a small amount of oil comming out of it. I've been working on cars for years, but being new to motorcycles, I can't figure this out.

Welcome.

I'm not familiar with the 440s but on my 650 there is a crankcase breather to vent the engine. As well as vents and overflow tubes on the carbs.

You can get some oil vapour and a bit of a drip from the crankcase/engine, but a lot of drip is not right.
