I have an 82 KZ 750 twin, I have a leak coming out of my shift shaft and the bolt directly beneath it. I am over a 100 mi away from a KAW Dealership, is this hard to fix, what part is bad, anyone know?

Also, anyone know what is the best oil to run in an old Bike like mine with 40,000 mi on it. Please let me know!

use straight 10w40, no synthetic (bad for the clutch)
clean the bike really well and be sure wehere the oil is coming from, sometimes looks can be decieving when you first notice an oil leak. after its really clean, put some powder in the suspect area, and see where it gets wet first, that way you know for sure where the leak is coming from. (the bolt may not be leaking)

It's not a hard repair and these are prone to leaking. As long as you're in there, change out all the seals in that area. Jeff at Z1 enterprises should have them. I know because I just did mine. Nice to have a bike with no leaks. I did mine in about an hour.
