TOPIC:

question one is how do i take the muffler off my bikero remove some baffles or to get a performance muffler if theres such a thing i want a lil more rumble if u will once i et her runnin right now its got stock exhaust???


and second is whats a good way to polish up the side covers on the engine to make them super shiny,they havn't been touched in quite a few years so it pretty dull,and ive heard you can get it to almost a chrome like finish

Cant help with the muffler question but steel wool, Mothers Aluminum polish (Canadian Tire) and lots of elbow grease works wonders on the side casings

In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, you'll see a window with "search forum" in it. Type "aluminum polish" (no quotes) in the window and hit the return key.

It'll respond with a whole list of posts containing the term going back quite some time - containing pretty much anything you'd want to know about how to polish your covers...

Might want to enter a smaller value for the image width in your sig line as well - it'll help the page formatting.

Mothers is probably just fine, but I've always used Simichrome and in my humble opinion, my bikes are pretty shiney. If you get one that's pretty corroded, it may take many applications, but you can get the cases just like chrome. My KZ1000E I bought in Michigan, while being near perfect with only 4000 miles had all the aluminum real dull and corroded. A couple evenings polishing with Simichrome and a couple 12 packs of beer and it shined like new.
Also I always use the same polishing rag for the last 15 or 20 yrs. This may seem pretty strange, but the blacker it gets with polish from all the work I've done, the better it works. Now I hardly ever even apply polish, just clean the covers and rub them with my old trusty rag and they come out really great.

Anyone that chops up a nice stock exhaust like that needs:



Find an old set on Ebay and hack those up... To the right party, that exhaust alone is worth the $300 you paid for the bike...

If you're going to take those covers off the engine, a buffing wheel w/ polishing compound on a bench grinder works pretty quick.

Lots of good advice on aluminum polishing.
But, polish will only shine your aluminum if the surface is smooth. If you have scratches or pits, then you need to start with some wet-sanding, working with finer grades until you can finally polish.
