Hey guys,

Just putting my gears back on the output shaft of my 82 KZ750 ( spectre motor) and 4th gear has 3 little ballbearings on the inside of it. when putting the gear on do these balls line up with the little oval recess in the spline of the shaft or do they line up with the flats that dont have the recess.

the book looks like the 1st option but i just want to be sure.

Well, if you leave them out then you won't have Kawasaki's infamous Neutral Finder (the repeating "Why won't my bike shift into 2nd when I'm sitting still" post)

Otherwise line them up with the holes.

well that would be good if you like taking off in 2nd gear.
