Friend who owned a v65 for years and sold it for a vulcan, just rode my bike. Its a 900 with 1015 kit, ported heads, norris .407 cams, 28mm carbs 155 jet, homade 4into 2 headers, coil upgrade. He came rollin in after 20 minutes, (its about 90deg here now)parked the bike in the garage, slowly turned his head back at me and said "Jesus Christ". So i dont know if he seen him or what. He said i stopped on the fair grounds road and 110 so fast, and man i laid a patch of rubber for......this thing would wax my v. Amen. Yahoo.

With the mods to your KZ, sounds like it'd give a v65 a fair run and probably be in the lead up to a little over a hunnert on the dial. Eventually, I'd think due to gearing and ponies, a v65 would pull away towards the top end of the scale, but that's an over rated stat used mostly by latent suicides and barstool racers anyways, IMO.

The v's were known as pretty fair rockets in their own right, but nobody ever bought one for pure looks that I was aware of - styled by a plumber with migranes, or so it seemed. Also seemed to have a weak second gear - saw a couple develop a case of the crunchies...

Just for money saved in Drano, I'd rather have the 'z, myself. B)

The V65 1100cc Sabre was suppose to be the fastest production bike in like 84??? rated at 121 hp factory .. But the things were top heavy , shaft drive ( Eats HP ) If you look on ebay they will still bring a good buck , One more thing , They had a bad oiling system for the Top end cams , by 20,000 the cams were usually gone , The after market has a cure @ 250.00 Dave Dodge racing I want to say ??? I find the Sabre a nice looking 80s bike even with all its faults , BUT ??? If someone says Hey I have a Honda Sabre ,, How many really know what it is ?? Where if you say I have a Kaw 900 or 1000 it seems the following is a little more well known ,,I have owned 2 97 Honda Magnas 750cc same engine just made better They were great Cruisers rated at 80 Hp they ran Mid 13s at the drags But were suppose to mid 12s ,, I never could get mine to hook up .. Just my opinion ... Shoeman
