need to know what plugs a 1981 KZ-750 LTD uses?

anybody?

Need a set.....but can't find the information i need anywhere :(

I think it might run better on B7ES. Often listed as an optional plug. any auto or farm and fleet should have them.

I personally use NGK plugs in the recommended heat range in my bikes. If your bike calls for NGK B8ES, and I believe it does, use it. If you find that your bike runs better using one heat range hotter plugs, the plugs are essentially masking another problem; most likely an ignition problem or fuel mixture problem that I prefer to fix rather than mask. Some owners manuals may suggest one heat range cooler plug for HIGH SPEED operation... that would be NGK B9ES. This type operation would be riding a 90 mph across the desert type riding.

A plug has three functions:
1 combustion
2 cleaning the combustion chamber
3 removing heat from the combustion chamber

While combustion is very important, the plug must be hot enough to burn crud and still remove heat from the combustion chamber. Too hot a plug and the bike will tend to overheat in stop and go traffic and too cool a plug and it will tend to not clean the deposits out of your combustion chamber and will foul. The heat range suggested by Kawasaki is typically a compromise and in the case of your bike, will probably work best.

Last note on plugs... some autoparts places don't carry NGK and will try and use a cross reference in order to sell you Autolite or Champion plugs. Problem is, the cross reference doesn't always do a great job regarding the heat range so you may have too hot a plug or too cold a plug (although it fits just fine) so I avoid using anything other than NGK plugs. ND (Nippon Denso) plugs are also fine in the correct heat range but they are not as available local so I don't use them or know much about their use. I also avoid fancy plugs... like Iridium plugs or Splitfire plugs because their extra cost doesn't seem to translate into some performance advantage. The regular NGK B8ES plugs seem to work best in my bikes. Using the coil repowering mod and even in a carb testing environment with some pretty rich mixtures for my test bikes, a set of NGK B8ES plugs can last over a year...

thanx guys, i picked up the B8ES plugs tonight.....anybody know the gap?

Trust me, i ordered a manual, it just hasn't arrived as of yet :angry:

As for heat range/masking problems i already knew that, but thanx for the reminder. Been around bikes my whole life.....just didn't know off the top of my head which plugs i needed for the KZ.

Gap......0.7 - 0.8mm (0.028 - 0.031 in)
