I recently put a kz700 engine on my 78SR650, I used the harness from the 700(electronic ign) I have spark, compression, fuel but for some reason it won't pop, even if the timing was off it should still have some kind of fire at some point, the engine ran when it was on the 700 frame and I did nothing to change it, so it should run on the new frame, I used the complete harness from the 700,everything and it's all hooked up except the lights...any ideas

It was a running engine so compression doesn't seem to be an issue. If you have gas and spark, then it WILL start unless....

Did you remove the cam shafts? Can cam timing be off?

You have spark and gas? How do you know? In other words, what did you do to check?

Last, did you time the ignition statically? No matter how good a spark and how much fuel you get, if the spark occurs at much the wrong time, it won't start.

Old gas or new gas? Battery charged and fresh? Carbs 700 or 650?

Is it possible that in wiring the bike you put the wrong wires to the wrong coils ?

That will give you spark but the bike will never fire. Perhaps try switching the wires to the coils.
