I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the Vesrah gasket kits are OK. If I buy Kawi gaskets from the shop here I'm looking at aroung $425 CDN with the tax. Old bike barn has Vesrah kits for around $60 US. Even with exchange and shipping that's a hell of a lot less. I'm on a severe budget. Should i splurge or go cheap?

Vesrah has been around for quite awhile making gasket kits, brake pads/shoes and clutch discs. And have built up a fairly decent reputation for quality and decent pricing.
I've never heard any complaints from anyone (aside from the "I gotta buy OEM parts" purists) in using Vesrah products.

I've used their brake pads and a clutch gasket before. And aside from the obvious price savings, I didn't notice any difference in quality over OEM.

I've got a 500 which is almost identical to your 550, paid 50 Euro from Athena in Italy. They even give you two rocker cover gaskets plus some weird cup shaped things for the valves I think.

The Vesrah are good gaskets. You're not going to get "perfect" gaskets going this way though. Every time I've used any non-factory gasket, there is always places the gasket is not perfectly shaped, so for good visual appearance an exacto knife is necessary. Can't stand a 1/8" part of a gasket sticking out beyond the mated parts staring me in the face.

Screww paying $425 for a complete gasket kit...that's highway robbery!!!! Jeff sells 'em for @ $60.

Vesrah is a good product....sourced a complete set thru Z1 Ent. and other than a little fitting on some to get it perfectly set they are a great alternative. I couldn't understand anyone paying dealer pricing for oem parts with a Kaw pn as long as these other products are available. I don't HAVE to buy them because I can't afford the oem's but I look at it like I would be foolish to pay oem pricing when something this good is avail for much less.
