It's a nice looking bike with low miles, and it's very original, but $10,000?
Is he way off base, or are these bikes finding a high-dollar market?

Ordinarily a very very nice 1976 KZ900A won't bring much above US$8000, but I suspect that the seller is testing the market based on recent sales of Z1's (which have recently expanded the monetary boundaries). The main points emphasized by the seller appear to be the low miles and an all original bike...he may merely be testing the depth of the pool of buyers...but is willing to part with the bike :)

Hey LTD... you got a 76? Didn't you notice he forgot to to put the joining bracket that goes up on the carb tops on the carbs? This bracket is unique to the 76 and 77 VM26... It is normally removed because it tends to rust. When I get them on sets, I usually toss them, if I resell the set or clean the rust and clear coat the bracket.

The price is too high RIGHT NOW but I suspect in a couple years, it won't look all that outlandish. The guys who go to vintage events and buy for the Japanese market would buy that one for $5-6K I suspect... How much the resell for is only a guess but I would guess more than the $10k in this auction. Have to find the Japanese eBay one day and check those auctions out. They are more collection oriented than we are and lead us by a few years in setting prices.

Your vision must still be 20/20; can't belive that you noticed that missing bracket. I had to go out and look at my bike to see if I still had that carb bracket.
Still there, and not even rusty!

Take a look at the auction again. Price starts at $10,000 and reserve has not been met. That means he wants more than $10,000. I think people see the 73's selling for $20,000 or more and they assume that since their 76 is only 3 years newer then it must still be worth around $12,000-15,000. After 74 the prices drop off big time
