Thought this was a funny story, I was going to sell my bike because i got orders to kunsan AB, korea. Well, It wasnt starting because something was wrong with the stator. Well, I was selling it for $300 and this guy was going to by it and was going to take it to a mechanic to see how much it was going to cost to fix it. Well the mechanic took the left engine cover off and noticed the there was a wire disconnected from the stator and hooked back up. but when we put the cover back on didnt replace the gasket so i have a really bad oil leak:unsure: . So, the guy ended up not buying the bike and dropped it off at my house. The mechanic told him it was going to cost like $600 to fix it. The only thing thats wrong is it need that new gasket, which has been replaced like 3 times, new tires, and the carbs adjusted. well, I just bought the gasket for $11.11 and the tires look to be about $160 for dunlops. But I do have one question, what do i have to do to get that gasket to install whithout a leak.

First of all what kind of bike is it? As to stopping a leak from the dyno cover , a good new gasket mated to a nice clean cover and nice clean crankcases with maybe a little RTV silicone around the rubber grommet should pretty much take care of any leakage problem.

It seems to me that it shouldn't leak any oil out of the dyno cover, gasket or no gasket. I'm guessing the seal behind the dyno rotor is probably leaking. The dyno area should be free of oil, if the ZN1100 is anything like the 650s I've seen.

I hope you can find a seal, they don't exist any more for my 76 400, and I have a leak.
