Okay got some time to have a ferret through the parts I picked up and pretty happy as there are plenty of useful bits.

Inn the bits were a bunch of the decals I need which was cool. I know this is not an original build but still great to have some of the original stickers.

Oh my god, finally! After some serious setbacks, some serious cash spent, and alot of general frustration....................I have a motor. Not only that, she is nearly as good as new. Other than the cases, barrells, head, and the gears in the box it is all new! I think it might be close to the world's most expensive Zed engine rebuild lol. Least it's done though. Time to clean it up and get into painting so it can go in the bike. Progress again!

When I said all go............................well I bought a cool bit of Japanese bling for the top clamp.

Polished the sprocket cover and remembered why I hate polishing so I sent out all the rest to be done by someone else.

and taped off the motor to get it ready for painting on the weekend.

Technical question for those of you in the know. How do I get this off the crank without damaging it?

An exciting day today! Motor together and now to paint it!! Fingers crossed and it won't be long and the Kiwi Z1R will have a heart in it. :)
Painting went well. I enlisted the help of my mate Tony who was the that painted the body work. In hind site I should have painted all of the parts prior to assembling the engine but to be honest it all got to hard so after it had to be. Pretty stoked with the result though! All the engine components had been blasted prior to the build so all I did was go over the whole motor with a coarse scotch pad and some prepsol. Then Tony etched primed it and painted the final covers. It is a satin black but when I took the photos the paint was still pretty wet and it will chill out as it drys. Will flick some more photos up in a day or two.
