Hey yall,
Well I am brand new here and looking for any info regarding the KZ440 (chain drive) and converting it into bobber bike. I got the bike for cheap (free) and it runs well and functions well. The bike is a 1980 Kawasaki KZ440 LTD. I saw in the memebers gallery that a member by the name of Landon666 had a 440 converted over and I LOVE the looks of that bike! Anyone have any more info regarding his setup or where I can get some of the parts he used! I am a motor enthusiast in all forms. I race a 500 hp Chevy Nova, also race motocross and ice race quads in the winter! So I just want a cruiser! Thanks in adavance guys!

Justin

Someone? Anyone? :P Reminds me of the Ben Stein scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, where he is the history teacher.... OK, I guess you had to be there.

Anyway, NovaGuy- I saw your post, I've never chopped into a bike, so I'm not much help. However, it seems like it's your bike, and your project, do what ever floats your boat. I would check out any photos you can find, make some sketches, do some trial mockups.... then take a sawsall to the bike and dive in!

(This 440 of yours is Not in Mint Condition, is it?)

Thanks for the replies guys! I totally agree that it is my new project therefor I should go with ny own idea, which I am. Just didn't know if anyone made half ass universal rigid tail sections! The only part that worries me is keeping it all squared up and keeping it strong enough. Like when I cut the swingarm mounts off and weld in the solid section, do I try and fishmouth all of the pecies or just butt em up and go for it? It is not a mint bike, all though it is in very good condition for the age. I don't need a show bike but I also don't want a hillbilly deluxe ya know? Thanks again! Just want to make sure I have exhausted all of my options before just going ahead and hillbilly specialing it myself!

Send me a PM with your email address. I have some good pics of a KZ 400 rigid frame bike I'll send you. Can't figure out how to post pics on this site quite yet.
