Hi everyone,
new member, first post.
I just worked on getting my fiancés 81 KZ 440 LTD up to collector plate status. I have one that runs well, but doesn’t look anything like hers.
The air box was missing parts and I swapped over to pods. I have done lots of work to prepare it to run and currently waiting in larger main jets for the carburetors. I’ve ordered 140, 145, 150, and 155 I’m hoping to find something in that range to work. Currently the engine isn’t getting enough fuel.
I will share some progress when parts come in. For now I was just thinking this group may appreciate a project of mine.
it’s a pretty good example of a kz 440 Ltd
cheers
Andrew

Cheap pot filter can block the air ports/passages in the carb inlet for the vaccum diaphragma and idle/main jet air/fuel mixture tube !!!

Very nice 440.
With high quality pods from K&N, APE, or Uni, going up one or two sizes on the mains should be enough for an otherwise stock engine and exhaust.

That bike has Keihin carbs, with both a primary main and secondary main jet circuit.  In looking at the parts diagram, I'm confused by your purchasing such large jets, since they seem way out of proportion of the stock carbs.

Some proper pods, as the others have mentioned, and bumping up the secondary main about 3 sizes would be a good starting point.

O.P. needs to get the Dyno Jet kit for the KZ750H, it is the quickest way to dial in the CV36 Keihins with pod filters.
