Hi all and thanks for accept me.
I bought a KZ750 Spectre 1982 motorcycle which was an import from USA.  I applied to the DVLA  (UK) with all the related documents to register the bike in the UK and my application is rejected due to the lack of date of manufacture. I have the VIN and engine numbers, NOVA reference,  but apparently these are not enough.
I have contacted Kawasaki in USA and I have only an approximate date as they cannot trace the VIN and engine number in their database.
Please could you help me?

Many thanks

US market bikes had a sticker on the steering neck with the info you need.  Did someone remove the sticker?

First welcome to the fun!  Second, I am not aware on what is or is not required to register a machine in the UK, but the sticker indicates 9/82 as build date. Not sure what else is needed? Maybe some of the UK members here can offer some more info.

There is a forum in the UK based on the (K)Z650 model  z650.proboards.com/ where there has been topics on the registering of US important to the UK as well as many other UK members that may offer you more assistance in you quest.

Generally speaking the DVLA want "first registration" as well as "date of manufacture" date to allocate a correct age plate (could have been in dealer stock for 2 years)

That's correct according to the letter from DVLA. However how can I get this information when I do not made the import myself? The only information I've got is the NOVA and the VIN/Engine numbers. So confused...

Do you know where it came from, if it's a USA import maybe some of the American members can offer guidance

I am in a similar situation as you at present. I have a KZ550 import, however I do not have the NOVA number although I have contacted HMRC and it is registered with them.
For the dating latter I contacted Kawasaki UK who could not find the VIN on their systems but have sent it off to Japan and I am awaiting a reply.
It may be worth contacting Kawaka UK they were very helpful when I rang.

I am a U.S. member, but for the most part, I have no idea what y’all are talking about. Registering vehicles here seems a lot simpler. All we need is a title.
