Hey everyone, new here. Just bought my second motorcycle, a slightly sad 1980 KZ750-G1 in need of a lot of TLC to keep myself from getting bored out of my mind stuck at home lately lol... I'm no professional but pretty mechanically savvy and looking forward to digging in. It felt great on the probably ill-advised ride home too so I'm excited to get it ready for when I start getting more chances to leave the house

She needs: a full electrical system overhaul (a silly PO ditched the side panels without rerouting the electrics and now the whole lot is ruined by weather), chain and sprockets, almost certainly a head gasket at least, on top of all the usual used-vehicle "getting the maintenance up to date" stuff...should keep me busy a while

welcome to the forum.

Not all head gaskets are the same for this bike. Only buy the head gasket part #: 11004-1267, the green one. It´s the last and best cylinder head gasket for the 750 twins. However the green gasket is increasingly difficult to find, the brown gasket is the second best. avoid red and black gasket.

A little gasket history :
11004-071 => 11004-078 => 11004-1055 => 11004-1267
11004-071, recall campaign in June 1976
11004-078, the red one with black middle section
11004-1055, light brown, comes with the first LTD model
11004-1267, the green and the best for the last LTD model

Indeed, I've been diligent in my research - it's what led me to this forum.
