This is another reason (aside from my weak polisher) as to why I spend the time sanding first - a dedicated buffing room is a dream given the mess generated by polishing. I have one 19x10 space for fab, prep, machining, final assembly etc so reducing buffing time and the associated mess is a consideration for me (love your set-upWhen my old buffer failed I bought this Jet variable speed buffer for my dedicated buffing room. Best investment I have made. Has a slow enough speed to polish plastic if needed.

My selection of antiquated bench sharpener/polisher motors. As mentioned, spitting crap everywhere. I just cart that bigger one out to a gravel patch in the side yard and contaminate the outdoors.
One 1/4 other 3/4. I don't have (jet)afterburners or SCR's for motor control Crazy, just that simple SPST switch, ha. Hopefully You're doing OK Cra-z1..haven't heard from you in a while.

Looking Sharp Cra-Z1!! Seems Your workstation resembles mine, every flat spot has something on it, ha. I can clean the 60sq ft area up but within a month it seems i find myself confined/cramped to 10percent of that of actual usable space.

Polishing is a learned art...Clay (asphalt900) has the correct approach and knowing when to stop is important...I have seen many motorcycles that are very over-polished and greatly exceed what a restored motorcycle should resemble. When the owners enter those over-polished motorcycles in a show and they don't win, the owners don't get why they don't 'trophy'. Being over-polished is fine, if that is what you are shooting for...but it ain't a restoration.
