Planned on riding 3 of my bikes for about an hour each today.
Then I remembered seeing a B25 Mitchell Bomber in the air this weekend.
There is a Fly Over Event each year. 24 years ago this weekend, my Dad came to visit his two granddaughters and me. Dad was an aviator, RC hobbyist, among much else in life. It was a good visit. He has been gone from this world for 10 years. Still miss hm. A local aviator club coordinates an event. This weekend the club hosted the EAA and they brought in a WWII B25 Mitchell Bomber. Wish my Dad was still here to see this. He loved attending air shows.
They had been offering rides all weekend for a modest asking price… Good cause & all, I would have paid whatever they asked to take a ride. Unfortunately, I arrived after they shut down the day.

Great pics and thanks for sharing stories about your father. My dad served in the Korean war in the navy and died in 2011 (age 83), still miss him dearly every day.

Yes, most are gone, even the Korean Vets like your Dad & mine. When you come out to visit. We can go out to the Air War Museum and see more on display.

Thanks for sharing! Lost my Dad in 1972, I just turned 13. I still use his J H Williams hand tools.
But back to old WWII planes! Nothing cooler!
I went up in a B-17 bomber few years back! "The Madress Maiden". Coolest thing I ever did in my life!
1st flight on Sunday morning, they ask me if I want to sit up in cockpit behind pilots? (DOH?)
Start up engines 1 at a time, coughing, spitting, smokin' oil till they all warmed up!
Plus they let you stick your head out open top turret traveling 180-190 mph.
They have not been back since 2018? Was pricey! $400 for a 30 minute flight.
Hope you get to go up someday.
Marty in Buffalo

Marty & Slayer, I appreciate you guys. Our Dads and their generation are a special breed. I am to the point of when these opportunities come up to hitch a ride in a vintage war plane, I will not hesitate
Great photos of your experience in the B17 Marty. Thanks for sharing.

Thank You Jim. Your daughter is a cutie!
Not sure I have mentioned this on the OA in recent times. But I am named after my Dad. I am not a junior but Forrest II. And, wherever I go, "The Forrest", my Dad is always with me.
There you go!
