My local dealer let me take the cafe out for a test ride (unsupervised
) it was fun. Not the same feeling as my kz1100, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If I found a cafe for sale at a good price and I had the money I'd buy it.

Appearently you can have these retuned to feel like the older carburator bikes, improved throttle etc.

I really like those. I appreciate that Kawasaki chose to make a motorcycle that doesn't look like an angry insect like all the other modern builders.
I went to the dealer and looked at the cafe version and even agreed on a reasonable price, but they didn't have one I could test ride. I've had enough bikes that didn't really fit me well that I wasn't willing to put the money down without riding it first.

I love those bikes. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if it weren't for the impending wedding.
Rode by a guy riding a Z900RS cafe a couple weeks ago while on my KZ. The guy seemed to scrape his chin on the pavement and snap his neck all at the same time.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

When first photos of this bike became public back in 2016 or 17 I was excited. I saw the bike at the Abbotsford Bike Show in 2017 I think, or maybe 2018 and I was a bit disappointed they hadn't done a bit more to make it reminiscent of the original Z1. There were simple low cost things they could have done like the tank emblems, or the master brake cylinder, or the handlebar controls. So didn't bite. Since then I've heard from a few people who have ridden them and said it's a great riding bike. I had one guy offer to trade straight up for one of my Z1B's but I declined.

I spent a bunch of time looking it over at the dealer. The only thing I was disappointed by was the lack of any storage space under the seat. You might be able to fit a pair of gloves if you're lucky. With my ZRX1100 your can fit an extra tool kit and a decent sized lunch and still have a bit of room to spare.

So im like a hundred miles in. Nothing like my kz650. My 650 is like a cool ass star wars land speeder compared to this z900rs millenium falcon. It has a horrible throttle jerking, hopefully fixed by an ivans tune, but the rest is pretty fn cool. Note: ive only ever drove a kz650 prior, few years in the late 80's and the past few years.
.... so as a kid we all prolly thought that land speeder would have been the funnest thing ever...and it is! ...but the millenium falcon could make the kessel run in 12 parceps. This things fast, cant wait to get out of the break in period.
