My Brother's friend runs Sprint cars, he had just finished putting a new car tougher for this season.
They had trouble getting the fuel system to prime, we had to pull it around the block several times.
Once it fired up, there were a few things to check over in the shop.
Here is a video of a 900HP methanol engine at idle.

Looks like a lot of fun. My uncle Lynn took me to a lot of races in Joliet Il featuring these...... probably was 10 to 13 or so...... was a lotta fun and I gotta say he was a hell of a good guy. Still go by a diner we would stop at (closed now) and can still taste the hamburger and chocolate malt. Took me to go kart races too and he was building a dual engine one till money ran out and had to sell it........ about broke my heart but he needed the money. He went to Indy quite a few times too till he got sick so he was a big race fan.

I have been to every type of racing there is. From Formula 1 to Showroom stock. Nothing, I repeat Nothing beats winged sprint cars on a well prepared 1/2 mile!!!! You will never see closer racing in my book. I used to hit 5 or 6 World of Outlaws races every year when I lived back in Chicagoland. Boy, I miss the now closed Santa Fe Speedway, or the Knoxville Nationals!!!!!!!
Still a big Doug Wolfgang fan!!!!!

Santa Fe Speedway was a big part of my youth, now I work in the fancy estates that sit on that spot.
We have a 1/4 mile dirt track out here ( LaSalle Speedway ) that I took my kids to to see the Outlaw sprint races a couple of times.
very exciting, they shaved 3 seconds off the late model stock cars time on a 1/4 mile :woohoo:
Nothing hooks up quicker besides dirt dragsters.

I used to sit outside Santa Fe Speedway and listen, and try to watch, the lightning rod derby races. That area was so different long ago.
