any idea where to get these decals? was created by kawsakiman
ok, first sorry for putting my ugly mug up again but i forgot my tank at work today.the small leak i have in my tank appears to be on the lower passenger side seam right on the curve. i really don't want to jb weld or kreem the tank because i'm not comfortable either will be a pernamant fix.it appears the only other option is to tackweld or braise it. either way will melt paint.the leak has already the paint to flake there anyway. so i am ok with a repaint but i am in love with the factory look and decals on it now.i looked everywhere so far and no luck.i am going to need a new pass cover and the odds of me matching it are not good.i really want to keep the factory appearence and custom airbrushing costs way to much.any ideas where i might be able to find a orginal set of decals? or do we know someone who makes a good reproduction set? thanks.

Come to think of it, if Repro Decals don't have it (didn't get a chance to check - too busy whacking barbarian's pee-pees at the gates...) just start calling around to various Kaw Dealer parts depts - that machine is new enough the odd dealer may have a set lying around...

if your decals are in good shape, you might send the body parts to them to reproduce the decals. they'll even give you a discount for helping them expand their product line:
www.reproductiondecals.com/default_frame...ml?content.html~main
(click on 'more info', then 'what if we don't have your decals')
if you want, you can also ask them to give you a custom color scheme. my stock 1980 kz550 has a double pinstripe that's red/black/blue on a black tank. i had them make me the decal in gold/black/black, so it will show up as a single gold pinstripe on the black tank.

Hit the button to quick.
Have you thought of taking some good pictures before you start sanding on the tank and then laying the stripes out with tape, painting them on and then clear coating?

I recently did a resto on a Nighthawk 700 SC and didn't like the orig graphics. So I did my own designs. Then took them to a sign maker to have vinyl decals made. Used some nice thin vinyl and they came out very nice. That is what the RC airplane and car guys do around here and if you do your own designs it is pretty cheap. Most need an EPS (encapsulated postscript) file. Can be done in a lot of graphic programs. I used Corel Draw. It might take some time if you are not familiar with bezier curves and structured drawing. Bit-map will not cut it for this. What is the year and model of the bike?

thanks gris. i never thought of that . going to explore that option monday. vetter bob, so far only the corner is damaged. i was saving that option as a last resort since custon air-brushing costs so much if you want it done right. anyone know a web sight address for red line cycle?
