I think a rouded cafe seat could look good on your bike. Like rhis:

I've got plans, using the stock seat pan, on making a single seat where the back end flows into and is the same height as the rear tail section. I can still hinge it up, or switch to a dual seat if I need to carry a passenger. Like this:

I suppose the differences could be a UK thing or just the fact it is a 1980 model.

I was planning on doing a fiberglass cowl behind the seat to finish it off, but I haven't had a chance to touch it all summer... and well, not it's pretty much winter. So that said, I'm going to strip the whole bike down over the winter and redo it right.

hi,you have a lot of work put into this and it's looking real good.when i orignally asked about a solo seat it was the bobber style i was thinking about.it did look out of place though.before you ended up with the seat you have now did you consider the solo seat off a kz1000 police bike ,or would that look too big on a 650 just wondering.post more pics when your finished would really like to see them.good luck.

Yeah I bought that single solo seat, but I knew even when I bought it that it wouldn't look right. It's a double bar frame up top and those seats are meant for a single and a tank that comes back to a point. So I scrapped that pretty quick. I ended up makign the one you see, which fits good, and is comfortable (surprisingly) but it looks amaturish and I don't like it. I've been on the lookout for a flat bottom seat thats the same width on the front and back so that it can push up against the tank flush but cover up the frame adequately. I haven't found it yet.

And you're right, a police solo seat is way too wide and just not the right look for the bobber style I was after.

I'll keep you posted. :) Shoot me a PM so I remember who you were when I finally get it right. :)
