chrome and black chrome was created by high toned son of a bitch
I would like to chrome the frame on my 900. This winter I was going to pull the engine, change rear swingarm and go monoshock.

What frame strengthening should I do to the frame before I take it in? I was planning on addressing the factory welds, and cleaning it up good myself. I have not talked to any places yet about this, I was also thinking black chrome.

Anyone have pics of chromed frames or anything other than painted frames?
Thanks,
Mike

Here's a site Projet Z where the guy posts step by step pics of the swingarm and monoshock he's putting on his Z1 engined KZ650. Might give you some ideas.

Anybody recognize the swingarm/monoshock on that "Project Z" site??? Looks like he hadda come up with some rather "inventive" mounts for it all....

I am considering chrome on my frame and maybe wheels too. I have heard of a "chrome" powdercoat. Has anyone seen what it looks like? I know the powdercoating would be much more durable on a frame than traditional chrome plating, but I don't know how shiny it really is. Powdercoating is usually about half the cost too. Has anyone seen chrome powder coating in person or have any good pictures?
Thanks

I use powder coat chrome... is pretty reflective... but more like polished aluminum.. it works great if you are doing a traslucent color over it... lok back about 2 posts.. i put up a pic of a mirror black... its sweet stuff...here is a pic of the 'chrome' i use..

Thanks for the info KzJim. It does look more like a shiny silver than chrome. Does the black chrome look black? It's so shiny in the picture that it's hard to tell what it really looks like. That could be the way to go for a frame.

The mirror black looks a lot better in person. To get the pic, sometimes you have to sacrafice getting the true color of the product.
