Hi folks. I'm new to this site. Though I imagine I will be visiting it quite often in the coming months. This past summer I acquired a new MC license, and a 83 KZ750 Spectre. It wasn't in the greatest shape and I figured if I didn't wreck it right away, I'd take the effort into "restore" it, and learn a thing or two in the process. I knew that these particular bikes are on the "rare" side, and I don't often see a nice looking "originals" on the various sites around. My bike won't be orginal when finished, but I'd like too keep it as close as possible to it
Anyway I've been able to research alot of the things I hope to do on it except this: My seat is in decent shape however the vinyl is starting to rip in the one corner. And I'd like to reupholster it myself if I can. Is there a thread or resource any of you fine people can point me to to help me know what and how to go about doing a semi decent job. Dropping several hundred bucks to have some one do it for me isn't much of an option as I didn't purchase the bike for that much.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to your responses.

I got a new cover a oldbikebarn.com.
It looks pretty good but I think I paid about 80 bucks with shipping and Kawasaki stenciled onthe back

I shaped mine myself and had a local shop upholster it for $90.00. It came out great and totally changed the look of the bike...If your metal tabs are in good shape, do it yourself, it's not too hard, but if the tabs are rusty, get a pro...
Search the site for 1982 spectre and you will come across some pics of mine...
Good luck! Rob

I have paid $50-$70 from an uphostry(sp) shop. Nice jobs too. Picked out the leather and rolled. $200 for a seat ....I'd have a hard time paying that too. Maybe a real nice corbin. Definately a nice LazyBoy with heat and massage! With a built in cooler and remote!:woohoo:
