Windshield fitment question

I've been looking for a "nice" looking windshield. I know that Memphis Shades doesn't make one specifically for the KZ650F1 1980, but they have only one for a KZ305 from 1985-88. I called and they said if nothing on the front end changed that it should fit-they've just never tried it on one as far as they could tell @ M.Shades. So does anyone know where I can find more info on the body of a KZ305 from 1985-88 to compare? I figured I would be able to do some pretty easy mods I would think-unless it starts getting into monkeying with the forks I don't want to bother.
Any info or web links would be appreciated, thanks!

-I'm looking at the Bladerunner - fits 1 and 7/8" bars; fits 5 3/4 and 7" lights; and approx. 25"W x 17"H

Why don't you look at Slipstreamer? A few friends run them on their bikes. They are nice looking, many models to choose from, clear, tinted, and VERY adjustable with a good solid mounting system. They use the S-06 Spitfire. They are pretty much generic and will fit a lot of different machines.

Yeah, I saw those, they may be functional, but the larger ones I was looking at, look a bit "dated". The Memphis ones were a bit more organic, smoother lines and I like the more options for the gradients.
Guess I'm a bit picky :P

I may have to go with a smaller one of Slipstreamer's that look better if I can't determine if the Memphis will fit or not-doing some more research....

thank you

FYI: If you don't know about these guys -being in MN so I go to them a lot :) -check out denniskirk.com

Memphis shade fitment list as I mentioned only lists the KZ 305 85-88. But going through Denniskirk's new catalog 2006 again -pg 293 shows a KZ1000 LTD with a Memphis shade on it?! So I called their tech support and they agreed about the photo and didn't know why it's not on the Memphis list...and it's totally returnable - if you leave the plastic on the shield. FREE SHIPPING over $100
It's also a 4 point mounting system.
So I'm going to give it shot, I should have it by Friday.
I'll post pics if anyone else is looking/curious....?

thanks anyway :)

I would like to hear your thoughts when you get it mounted. I will be looking for a large windshield for my bike. I was looking pretty hard at the National Cycle Plexistar II. I never heard of them but I'll check out what Memphis shade has to offer. Update... I checked out what M.S has to offer. The closest thing to what I'm looking for is the "Roadmaster" But I'm not fond of the styling and they only come with a tinted bottom. Something I don't want. Thanks for the tip though.

check this one out: kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_ponygal...&func=detail&id=1017

my 84 KZ550-F2 with a memphis shades windshield on it. unfortunately it got a crack in it, so now I have a slipstreamer of the same basic shape, solid tint, on it...

pretty much any windshield with a four point mounting system can be made to fit pretty much any bike. it's just a matter of setting it up right - getting the clamps in the right positions, and the rods adjusted properly. takes a little fiddleing but can be done with patience.
oh yeah, and in some cases (like mine) the front turn signals may need to be relocated...

a frame mounted system is a whole 'nother ball game.

MikeS82kz1100:

Look at this one, I was considering this as well, fuller fairing and clear, just seemed a bit big for a "smaller"? bike like mine.

Windshield at JC Whitney

If this link doesn't work, go to windshields at JCwhitney.com, then go to windshield fairings, and it's the DELUXE CONTOURED PLEXIFAIRING 3™ SKIRTED WINDSHIELD

4 point mounting and comes in clear and light smoke -clear for yours looked to be $150 +s/h

The one in the link above is the one I have on my Spectre.

This is my first bike, and I understand it makes riding more comfortable, but I'm really tempted to leave it off. I can always put it back on. I think it would look better without it. How many people here have tried windshields and then decided not to use one?
