replacement vs. original side covers?

Hi, first time posting, though have trolled this site for years. It's great!

Finally working on my kz650c and need to replace the side covers. What are your thoughts on the Maier replace ment side covers? It's been impossible for me to find decent used originals.

Any tips would help. Thanks!

I have a set on my 1000. They look different so if your going for a restoration I would find stock. The after market ones have screws that hold them on so that is a plus.

If you're keeping your bike original, go with the originals, otherwise anything that fits will do. With a little patience, you can find them on eBay. Here's a NOS ORIGINAL silver one for the KZ650C1:

Notice the recessed area for the "KZ650" badge; that's what the originals look like. Ed - KZ650C1 original owner

Thanks guys. I am trying to keep things original, and I bid on that side cover. Restoration might be a somewhat strong word since this is my first attempt at a project like this. But things are going much easier than expected and I'm having a lot of fun. Bike is well stripped down and I have several projects on the bike going in parallel.

I can't find the digital camera, but as soon as I do, I'll start a thread on my project and post pictures and updates. Thanks for all the help so far.

KZ650c1 - pods are the only mod on the bike
