Be particularly careful when taking off the side cover badges. They should be held on by metal push-on gizmos that fit on the emblem pegs. If you go roughly or quickly, you will break off those pegs...and then you'll be using double-side tape or something to re-attach the badges.

The tank emblems should be held on with tiny little phillips head screws. 2 on each side. Don't loose them. They're just the right length to hold your emblems, but not too long to puncture your gas tank.

Listen to ltdrider. Do NOT lose those screws then buy new ones and puncture your gas tank with them because they are too long. Seriously, dont do it. its STUPID...

Love the idea about reattaching the side cover emblems by cutting threads and using lock nuts!! BTW - If any of you do loose the screws out of the tank emblems you can purchase a new set from Jeff @ Z1 Enterprises. Well worth the money compared to damaging your tank using the wrong screws!

So does no-one know where to get new push on retainers for the side badges?
Must be another way of attaching them!

I have found some retaining nuts that are an exact duplicate, only problem is you pay $6.11 for 200 of them. They are at
www.mcmastercarr.com
and the part number is 94807A024 ;)

I have also used silicone on the back of the studs and have had no problems.
