GPz1100 red paint match... was created by Fossil
...found a little tin of fresh touch up paint from the body shop left over from years ago when my wife's car was hit and repaired. Turns out to be a perfect match to the original red on my bike. 1991 Pontiac Tempest red. Nope, sorry don't have the paint code on hand.

A ten minute pit stop at any body shop or auto parts store that does paint mixing should be able to give you both the code *and* the formula - in grams - for your color in whatever manufacturer's (DuPont, PPG, Martin Seynor, etc...) system they're using.
Getting the formula is just as, if not more important than the base code when it comes to color matching; no two cans/batches of paint are ever created the same, short of perhaps the OEMs, who mix up 1000+ gallon batches under strictly controlled and automated conditions.
Short of those conditions, a *talented* Mk. I eyeball is hard to beat when it comes to comparing a test panel to a freshly mixed pint and figuring out whether it needs a gram of red or a half gram of blue to get it "right". Knowing the constituent colors in precise amounts can make or break a can of paint in a hurry.
For example, in a 1000 gram quart, some silvers may have as little as 5 grams of color, the balance being composed of binders and metallics...

I, also, have a little can of left-over paint from a custom match for a 1982 GPz1100. It is Dupont Chroma 'Firecracker Red' for a 1991 Mercury Capri...and all the numbers (well, maybe most) are still on the can label.

I'm about to get my '82 GPz750 repainted and have been told that the ColorRite Kawasaki 606 Firecracker Red 3015 is the right match for the GPz.
From what I understand, Kawasaki has been using this color for years, not just for the GPz, but for other vehicles, and ColorRite has simply matched it.
Is this correct? Thanks...

Don't know, but I sure would like to see some photos of the color.
