Kawasaki OEM Wheel Paint Finish

From the factory what finish did they use?
The 81 1000J1 I'm restoring needs the wheels done and I'd like to stay true to the original look, when I bought my original J2 I recall they were Gloss but a few people swear they came out in Satin.

I don't think it was full gloss.  But then, the wheel casting is somewhat rough, so that will make whatever finish is applied look less glossy than if the paint is applied on a smooth surface.

I dont think they were full gloss either but more satin. Whatever it was it sure was thin and blasts off easy.
Not the best photo but these are wheels I did a few months back on the franken bike

The wheel on the Franken bike looks great, I think I'll go with Satin

Should clean up nicely. If you blast them tape up all the polished areas with gorilla tape . makes it easier to finish polishing before painting. Check out True Disk and have you disk resurfaced.

Rear wheel done in Satin, they'd been polished in the not too distant past, I had a quick go with some Autosol before I masked it up.
The brake disc wasn't going to pass a roadworthy so I bought a new one.

That looks fantastic.  What process did you use to clean and prep the wheel before you painted?  What did you use for paint (can or gun)?

1st I degreased with kerosene and a nylon scourer, then truck wash detergent again with a nylon scourer then I blasted it with a high pressure water blaster, just used a rattle can of Caliper paint.
